TRIFED is engaged in empanelling more tribal artisans even from the innermost regions of India and also is accelerating its marketing efforts to realise the goal of every Indian home having at least one tribal handcrafted product in the next 3 years.
A workshop on “Strategies for promoting and marketing of tribal products” organised on 14th February 2020 was chaired by the Hon’ble Minister of Commerce & Industry and Railways, Shri Piyush Goyal. The workshop was aimed at bringing together various stakeholders including such as government organisations, Industry associations viz. FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM, DICCI , Design Institutions, Academia etc. for deliberating and finalizing a Plan of Action to revamp and expand the #GoTribal campaign.
The Hon’ble Minister emphasised the focus to strategise and realise the goal of every Indian home having at least one product, if not more, which is produced by our tribal brothers & sisters within the next three years.
The Minister expressed that in order to create a significant impact on the lives of 10.4 Cr tribals in the country, a composite programme aiming Rs 10,000 Cr tribal economy is necessary.
TRIFED has been thus far able to connect over 1.5 Lakhs tribal master craftsmen & craftswomen and 2.5 Lakhs tribal forest dwellers pursuing micro-entrepreneurship in value addition of Non Timber Forest Produces yielding an aggregate revenue of Rs.100 Cr.
The minister appreciated TRIFED’s efforts towards the aim of creating over 10 Lakhs suppliers and further encouraged to establish a robust supply chain backed by potent Partnerships, Product Design, Branding and Promotion.
